Cycloserine
Indications/Uses
TB especially multidrug-resistant TB. Use concurrently w/ other anti-TB drugs when therapy w/ primary agents are ineffective or contraindicated.
Dosage/Direction for Use
15-20 mg/kg. Usual dose: 500-750 mg divided 2 times a day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken after meals if GI discomfort occurs.
Contraindications
Severe renal impairment, epilepsy, depression, severe anxiety, psychotic states, alcohol dependence.
Special Precautions
Monitoring of CNS reaction is essential. Any undue depression or personality change should be reported to physician immediately. Renal or liver failure. Pregnancy. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, slurred speech, convulsions, headache, tremor, insomnia, depression, altered behavior, allergic dermatitis, megaloblastic anaemia, changes in LFTs, heart failure.
